E-Therapy

E-Therapy offers personal private counseling or coaching through the speed and convenience of the Internet.  The main difference in E-Therapy is that you do not go to the therapist’s office.  Instead, you and the therapist use the Internet to exchange information.

Benefits of E-Therapy for the Client

  • You only need access to the computer.
  • Issues of transportation, weather, and illness do not stop E-Therapy.
  • You can email to the therapist at your own convenience and speed.
  • You can think, re-think, and rewrite the email as many times as you wish.
  • You determine how much time or money you want to spend.

Benefits of E-Therapy for the Therapist

  • I don’t have to be tied to a certain time frame and can give the email full attention at a time that is convenient for me.
  • I can take time to make sure my response answers your questions.
  • I do not have to come up with a quick answer off the top of my head as I do in face-to-face therapy.
  • You get a response that you can reread as many times as you wish which makes it even more valuable.

How does E-Therapy Work?

  • You email to me the issues and questions that you want explored.
  • I read the material and then respond to your email.
  • I try to respond as soon as possible, usually in 24-72 hours.
  • If requests are received on the weekend, the response time may be longer.
  • If I am going to be away or unavailable for a period of time, I will notify my

E-Therapy clients.

  • You do not need to make appointment with me.  You can email on your own time frame.

Confidentiality and E-Therapy

1.      Both the client and I are responsible for maintaining confidentiality.  Due to the potential security risks associated with email communications and the Internet in general, the following precautions, exercised by the client, are required to insure that the communications are as secure as possible.

2.      Remember that using email is never 100% secure.

3.      Protect others from gaining access to your computer by using a password to protect your files.

4.      Do not use a computer at someone else’s place of residence or business.

5.      If you make a hard copy of our correspondence make sure you protect those copies and keep them safeguarded.

6.      Install a Firewall and maintain an updated anti-virus program to give maximum protection from a hacker or virus.

Fees/Calculating Costs/Payment for E-Therapy

1.      The minimum fee is $30, which is based upon a 15 minute increment of time to process each client’s request, forms, read the email message, and respond.  Any additional time past the initial 15 minutes will be billed to the credit card at a rate of $2.00 per minute.  Clients may indicate a time limit for their requested response.

2.      Payment is made by credit card.  Please complete the “Electronic Payment Authorization Form” and forward to me via fax, email, or postal mail.
